Two new saw chain sharpening kits from Makita

Makita U.S.A. has released two saw chain sharpening kits to retain optimal sharpness levels for chain saws as well as pole saws: the 5/32-in. Chain Sharpening Kit (D-75910) and the 4.5 mm Chain Sharpening Kit (D-75926).

The kits are self-contained and include a variety of tools to maintaining saw chains, including:

  • Saw chain file (1);
  • File guide (1);
  • Flat file (1);
  • Depth gauge tool (1); and
  • Two extra file handles (2).

The saw chain file is used together with the file guide to sharpen saw chain cutting teeth, and the flat file is used with the depth gauge tool to maintain proper saw chain depth gauge settings. The kit is offered in a convenient storage bag to protect the tools from the elements.

Makita also offers replacements for the round files and the flat files in either a 2-pack or a 12-pack.

“Pros know the value of a sharp chain, with many contractors and arborists sharpening their chain before starting their workday,” says Nicole Tougas, product manager, outdoor power equipment, Makita U.S.A. “These sharpening kits enable users to maintain their saw chains and keep that fresh out-of-the-box factory sharpened cut quality.”

Makita has engineered the 5/32-in. Chain Sharpening Kit and the 4.5 mm Chain Sharpening Kit to correspond to chain saws and pole saws that use these size chains.

The new Chain Sharpening Kits are part of the continuing expansion of Makita’s outdoor power equipment lineup with more equipment and tools including chain saws and pole saws. Makita currently offers 15 battery-powered chain saws and four pole saws across its XGT and the LXT cordless systems.
