The Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) announced its 2011 webinar series. The 2011 series gives members and non-members access to a variety of topics relevant to professional landscape designers.
This year, the webinars being offered provide participants with both design and business skills.

This fast-paced hour provides new ideas and simple answers to the most vexing plan and project problems. Questions such as “How much do I charge for design?,” “How do I determine a budge?” and “ What is my project going to cost?” will be answered as you tap new net resources, learn quick estimating techniques and master innovative methods that will help you earn more for services and assemble a more complete design package.

Reuniting with the Land (1 CEU) – Suzanne Arca, APLD
This talk will cover the transformation of a property in Lafayette, California from a sea of asphalt, clipped hedges and lawns to a natural flowing landscape that reunites with the foothills. The process of design will be discussed, and how the design program was established and eventually implemented. What to keep, reuse and let go of on the site will be addressed. The ongoing work on the property and how the thread of continuity is addressed through material choices and aesthetic direction as each new phase and element is installed will be explained. Use solutions, mitigation of problematic drainage and sustainable landscape practices for the site will be explained.
