Fertigation/chemigation webinar announced

The Irrigation Association will present a webinar on fertigation and chemigation on September 22 at 2 p.m. Eastern.

Fertigation and chemigation are the application of fertilizer or chemicals through the irrigation system. The actual function of the technology, injecting products into irrigation systems, provides the end user with expanded options for treating water, soil and fertility needs.

Also referred to as injection, this technology is used extensively by a broad array of industries for a variety of purposes. The primary goal of injection in the landscape and grower markets is to provide increased automation to a process resulting in better efficiency and simplicity.

The following topics will be addressed during the webinar:

  • Types of injection
  • Design differences
  • Soils and the effects of salts
  • Specific products that may be used through injection
  • Comparative costs versus traditional applications
  • Environmental benefits of fertigation

The presenter of the webinar is Darin Brasch, production manager at TruGreen/Chemlawn, the largest lawn and landscape service company in the United States, he acquired his applicator’s license for turf, trees and shrubs in two states and managed branch sales, customer relations and operations. Brasch is certified as a master gardener, received his agricultural certification from Colorado State University, is certified in turf grass management and was educated in business at Scottsdale Community College. He has been involved in fertigation since 1998, working with EZ-FLO, and is responsible for North American distribution sales and managing the company’s outside sales and territory representatives.
