Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) congratulates the 88 industry leaders who became accredited Green Roof Professionals (GRPs) in 2013. GRP accreditation is the industry standard for excellence in design, installation and maintenance of green roof systems.

The GRP class of 2013 is a diverse group of professionals including landscape architects, architects, roofing consultants, roofing contractors, landscape contractors, engineers, and product manufacturers.

According the Jordan Richie, Director of Education and Accreditation at GRHC, this diversity is symbolic of the multi-disciplinary collaborations that are driving green roof industry growth. “GRPs facilitate collaborative efforts with other green building professionals, contributing the knowledge and skills to implement living systems that work in concert with other building services.”

A number of North American jurisdictions are recommending GRPs as the “professional of choice” on green roof projects, which are designed to help manage stormwater and prevent runoff that can contaminate waterways. Since the introduction of the GRP designation by GRHC in 2009, over 650 individuals have earned this distinction.
