Irrigation Association announces Landscape Irrigation Contractor State Licensing Guide

The Irrigation Association released its web-based Landscape Irrigation Contractor State Licensing Guide. Users can access the guide on IA’s website by clicking here

The guide provides a list of all states that require either an irrigation contractor license or a license with irrigation contracting as a sub-category in order to practice landscape irrigation. Professionals can click on any state to quickly view details about specific licensing requirements and gain direct access to that state’s licensing web page.

“We are thrilled to announce this new resource for landscape irrigation professionals,” said Chad Forcey, IA state affairs director. “There is a need for this information in one place online, as there is no other place on the web where you can find comprehensive, updated information on each state’s irrigation licensing requirements.”

The guide also includes an infographic featuring a map that illustrates the presence of irrigation contractor licensing requirements across the 50 states. IA will use this map at trade shows to answer questions from professionals and policymakers.

The Landscape Irrigation Contractor State Licensing Guide and the infographic both provide information about states currently working toward licensing for irrigation contractors.

“We strive to assist states whose irrigation industries seek irrigation contractor licensing,” continued Forcey. “We believe that licensing promotes public safety and professionalism and helps to ensure the efficient use of water resources. On our guide, you can see where those efforts are currently taking place.”
