The Irrigation Association (IA) announced that the American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC) will be partnering with IA to present the 2011 Water Conference. The third annual conference, titled “Water for the Future: The Role of Smart Irrigation,” will take place July 21-22, at the Omni Interlocken Resort and Spa in Broomfield, Colo., a suburb of Denver.
The conference is designed to bring irrigation professionals, strategists, academics, environmentalists and water managers together with irrigation practitioners to discuss the world’s water challenges and our industry’s role in providing solutions.
“With a conference that is expected to grow again this year, IA is thrilled to be joined by ASIC in hosting this event,” said Deborah Hamlin, IA executive director. “Ultimately, this conference aims to unify our industry professionals in order to pursue more efficient water use in irrigation. ASIC’s partnership is a welcome step toward that unity.”
ASIC Executive Director Norm Bartlett noted that through the partnership, his organization is “committed to continuing the dialogue on water issues facing our industry. We look forward to an exciting and informative conference that raises the awareness of those issues throughout all irrigation industry professionals.”
Confirmed speakers for the Water Conference include: Dr. Peter Williams, chief technology officer, Big Green Innovations Division, IBM; Liz Gardener, suburban conservation coordinator, Denver Water; Scott Slater, shareholder, Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, LLP; and Jeff Bruce, Jeffrey L. Bruce & Co.
