Nationally renowned author and professor Robert Glennon will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2010 Irrigation Show’s general session on Dec. 6. Additionally, the show’s schedule is now posted at www.irrigationshow.org
Known for his 2009 book, Unquenchable: America’s Water Crisis and What To Do About It, Glennon has spoken around the country and overseas, appearing on C-SPAN2, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Diane Rehm Show and many National Public Radio shows. He has published pieces in the Washington Post, the Arizona Republic, and the Arizona Daily Star. He is also the author of the 2002 book Water Follies: Groundwater Pumping and the Fate of America’s Fresh Waters.
At the University of Arizona, Glennon is the Morris K. Udall Professor of Law and Public Policy in the Rogers College of Law. A recipient of two National Science Foundation grants, he serves as Water Policy Advisor to Pima County, Arizona; as a member of American Rivers’ Science and Technical Advisory Committee; and as a commentator and analyst for various television and radio programs. He is also a Huffington Post blogger.
For Irrigation Show attendees, the schedule is now posted on the show Web site, detailing education classes, certification exams and other meetings. In 2010, IA is offering 20 classes, ranging from half-day to two-day courses covering a variety of agriculture and landscape topics.
The schedule also allows attendees to plan for such special events as the Ag Day sessions on agriculture issues, distributor breakfast and briefings on such IA initiatives as SWAT, WaterSense and Smart Irrigation Month. All IA committees will also hold meetings at the show.
