North American Water Garden Society submits “Ponds for Kids” grant to Pepsi Refresh Project

The North American Water Garden Society (NAWGS) submitted a proposal to the Pepsi Refresh Program for funding to install 50 outdoor ecosystem classrooms in schools across the U.S. through its Ponds for Kids program. The Pepsi Refresh Project provides grants each month to winners with successful ideas to make a positive impact in the community. Over 1000 project ideas are submitted each month in various categories such as Education, Health, Arts and Culture, and more.

Ponds for Kids is a cooperative project that helps schools in the construction of self-sustaining pond ecosystems on the school’s property. Ponds for Kids brings the natural world right to your school where it can be used as an outdoor classroom influencing a new generation of kids to have an understanding and appreciation for the environment.

Online voting for accepted proposals occurs during the month of May and the top community projects receive funding from the Pepsi Refresh Project. To vote for the Ponds for Kids proposal sponsored by the North American Water Garden Society, log onto www.refresheverything.com/pondsforkids. Voting can be performed once each day during the month of May. Winners are notified when results are tallied and are expected to complete their projects within 12 months.

The North American Water Garden Society plans to utilize Certified Aquascape Contractors from across the U.S. to help identify schools interested in outdoor education and to complete installation of projects.
