Join fellow irrigation leaders in our nation’s capital to meet with elected officials and discuss key issues affecting irrigation. Registration is now open for the 2018 Irrigation Association Washington, D.C. Fly-in on March 6-7. This event is being held in conjunction with the National Ground Water Association and the Water Quality Association during the Water Resources Congressional Summit.
This year’s fly-in will focus on three issues:
- Farm bill — As the House and Senate work to pass a farm bill this spring, the timing is perfect to increase opportunities for farmers to invest in efficient irrigation technologies, leading to increased environmental benefits and crop yield based on resources used.
- WaterSense — WaterSense is not authorized for funding by Congress and thus at risk for significant cuts or elimination by the Trump administration.
- Infrastructure — Water infrastructure, specifically efficient technologies, should be included as a priority in a future infrastructure package.
To register for the fly-in, complete and send in the registration form. There is no cost to register for the fly-in, but registrants must be an employee of an IA member company or a technical member.
The fly-in will begin on Tuesday, March 6 at 8:30 a.m. and will end on Wednesday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m. The IA has secured a hotel room block along with the National Ground Water Association at the Washington Court Hotel for $309/night. Information about making hotel arrangements is included on the registration form.
