Ruppert announces new branch locations, promotions
Ruppert Landscape has opened three new locations in Apex, North Carolina, Bowie and Elkridge Maryland, and announced promotions for staff members.
Reid Altavilla promoted
Reid Altavilla was promoted to director of shop Operations at Ruppert’s corporate offices.
With a career spanning nearly four decades, Altavilla has been a member of the Ruppert team for the past 27 years. He joined the company in 1996 as a mechanic in the Gainesville, VA landscape management branch and rose through the ranks to become Shop Manager, Regional Fleet Manager, and most recently Corporate Fleet Manager.
“Reid has been an invaluable member of our team, consistently demonstrating exceptional dedication, expertise, and leadership of our shops, fleet, and team members,” said Greg Franklin, vice president of Fleet, Facilities and Safety. “With his proven track record of excellence, innovative thinking, and dedication to our company values, we are confident that Reid will lead our fleet team to new heights of success.”
Apex, North Carolina
“The steady demand in the Raleigh/Durham area, coupled with the steadfast commitment of our team and unwavering support of our valued clients, has allowed us the opportunity to expand into the exciting Apex market,” stated Drew Dummann, region manager in the company’s landscape management division. “This strategic move enhances our ability to uphold exceptional service standards for our current clients while fostering fresh prospects for growth in the region. This expansion also aligns with our core values by offering increased avenues for professional advancement to our dedicated team.”
This new location will be led by Tyler Johnson, who has recently been promoted to branch manager. In this position, his responsibilities include planning, budgeting, personnel development, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
With over 16 years of landscape industry experience, Johnson joined the Ruppert team in 2019 as an Area Manager in the Raleigh branch. His exceptional sales records and management skills led to his promotion to Associate Branch Manager in 2022.
“Tyler excels at customer service, sales, and taking care of his people, and has spent the last year and a half preparing to take on the Branch Manager role,” said Dummann. “We are enthusiastic about Tyler’s transition into this role and are confident in his ability to drive success and growth for our new Apex branch.”
“This expansion not only reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our clientele but also signifies the continued dedication of our team to deliver exceptional service,” said Kyle Meissner, region manager in the company’s landscape management division. “We look forward to contributing positively to the Bowie and Annapolis communities while providing new opportunities for our employees to thrive within our company.”
Ruppert’s Bowie branch will provide comprehensive commercial landscaping services in Bowie, Annapolis, Greenbelt, Crofton, Beltsville, College Park, and Kent Island.
“This new branch represents our commitment to serving the community and meeting the growing demand for exceptional landscaping services in the region,” said Damien Barber, region manager in the company’s landscape management division. “We are thrilled about the opportunities this expansion brings, not only for our company’s growth but also for creating new employment opportunities and furthering our mission to deliver unparalleled service and innovation to our valued customers.”
This new location will be led by Mike Fleming, who has been with Ruppert for over 17 years and has overseen the Baltimore location since 2018.
“Mike exemplifies what we love to see in a career path here at Ruppert. He began his career as an intern and then worked his way through nearly every branch position from crew member to branch manager. He has been an integral part of our history in the Baltimore market and will be a huge asset as we create our new Elkridge location,” said Barber.
This move provided the opportunity for Tim Kline to step into the role of branch manager in Baltimore. In this position, his responsibilities will include planning, budgeting, personnel development, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Kline holds an associate degree in business administration and management from Carroll Community College and served six years as a member of the U.S. Army Military Police. Post-military, he transitioned to the landscaping industry and gained experience in both maintenance and construction, growing his career from the field to operations management. He joined Ruppert in 2021 as an Area Manager in Baltimore and was promoted to Associate Branch Manager in 2022.
“Tim has dedicated the past year to prepare for the Branch Manager role, overseeing the team and customer portfolio that will remain with the Baltimore branch following the Elkridge split in 2024,” Barber said. “We’re excited about Tim’s transition and have full confidence in his capacity to sustain the Baltimore branch’s success.”
