Snow & Ice Management Association Announces Latest Web Seminar on Managing Rising Costs in the Snow & Ice Industry

The Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA) has announced the next session in its online training series for those in the snow and ice management industry. The live Web seminar, entitled “Snow Strategies for Tough Times: How to Manage Rising Costs and Protect your Bottom Line,” will be presented by Phil Harwood, CSP, on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 3 p.m. EDT.

“SIMA is excited to offer the next online training course for snow professionals,” said Brian Birch, SIMA’s assistant executive director. “The current economic situation and rising costs are an issue for many in the snow and ice industry, and this course will offer helpful tips and strategies for creating a more stable and profitable business model.”

This course will address how to deal with issues such as rapid increases in fuel, material costs, and business expenses. Specifically, the course is designed to help attendees learn to:

* Use financial modeling to increase predictability of profits.

* Increase profitability by driving revenue growth.

* Create “safety-valves” in your contracts to hedge against rapid cost increases.

* Become strategic partners with your customers, not simply a vendor.

After many years of working in the industry as co-owner of a large snow & ice management company, Harwood founded Pro-Motion Marketing, an internationally recognized marketing firm that exists to help organizations discover, promote, and manage their unique brand value. He has extensive business experience as an entrepreneur, business owner, executive manager, speaker, and writer. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in integrative management, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing.

This seminar will also be available in an archived on-demand format, as well as on CD-ROM. For more information or to register, call 414-375-1940, or visit http://webinars.sima.org.
