State officials meet Irrigation Association staff at conference

The National Conference of State Legislature is a bipartisan group focused on providing state legislators with “the tools, information and resources to craft the best solutions to difficult problems,” according to the group’s website.

In its fourth year attending, the Irrigation Association provided legislators from various states with information regarding the benefits of irrigated agriculture and landscapes, as well as, the importance of efficient irrigation technologies, products and services in public policy.

“Attending this conference sets the IA aside as the recognized authority on irrigation,” said John Farner, IA’s government and public affairs director. “As more and more states look to regulate water, agriculture and landscapes, it’s important that the IA serve as the resource for issues affecting the irrigation industry.”

In addition to meeting with state officials in the IA booth, IA staff also attended committee meetings and educational seminars with state officials, discussing best practices and policies that benefit communities, agriculture and water resources.

The next NCSL Legislative Summit will be in Boston, Massachusetts, Aug. 6 – 9, 2017.
