The Scotts Company welcomes Kevin Taylor

The Scotts Company North America Professional Business Group welcomed Kevin Taylor as territory manager for the newly-created territory covering North Carolina and South Carolina. Taylor’s primary responsibilities will include developing new end-user accounts as well as maintaining existing accounts in the professional markets.

A resident of Rock Hill, S.C., Taylor’s firsthand knowledge of his sales territory complements his extensive experience in the horticulture industry. His most recent position was as plant supervisor for the Scotts Growing Media processing facility in Chester, S.C. During his tenure at the plant, Taylor developed a plan to reduce raw material costs by 10 to 20 percent, reduced unplanned downtime by almost 50 percent from the previous year and implemented environmental controls including plant air filtration and installation of dust collection systems. He is also a charter member of the Scotts Growing Media Academy, which offers advanced training and education to Scotts associates with high potential.

Prior to joining The Scotts Company, Taylor served as plant manager for Industrial Test Systems, Inc. and as a product sales specialist for Vermeer Carolina Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Winthrop University and an associate’s degree in electricity and electronics from York Technical College, both in Rock Hill, S.C.

“We’re extremely pleased to have Kevin join our group of territory managers,” said Craig Whatley, regional sales manager for the Eastern region of the North America Professional Business Group. “His unique combination of horticultural knowledge, production expertise, training skills and sales experience will make him an invaluable member of our team as we pursue our sales goals in the Eastern region.”
