The symposium will be broadcast via the Internet, allowing attendees the flexibility of logging in to the presentations most relevant to their specific interests. “The focus of the irrigation industry continues to change with regards to water availability and cost issues,” said Christine Canepa, director of marketing for Toro Irrigation. “Now, more than ever, irrigation professionals need to be aware of new laws, regulations and technologies that impact our industry. This symposium is an opportunity for landscape contractors, water purveyors, municipalities and builders to hear about best practices from around the globe, strengthening their businesses and preparing them for the changing irrigation environment.”

Held during the Irrigation Association’s Smart Irrigation Month, the 2008 WaterSmart symposium has invited industry experts to present on a variety of topics affecting worldwide water management and the irrigation industry. On July 29, the morning session will include presentations from Larry Rohlfes, assistant executive director for CLCA, on CLCA Water Manager Certification; Stephanie Tanner, WaterSense products lead for the EPA and Mary Ann Dickinson, executive director for the Alliance for Water Efficiency, on the mission of this organization.

The afternoon session on July 29th will include Brian Vinchesi, chairman of the Irrigation Association SWAT Initiative, discussing SWAT’s mission and accomplishments; Steve Bilson, president of ReWater Systems, Inc., sharing information on residential gray water systems; and Julian Gray, CEO of Smart Approved WaterMark, talking about the Smart Approved WaterMark in Australia.

Issues related to water management and irrigation best practices for the golf and agriculture markets will be covered via Webcasts on Wednesday, July 30.
