Zurn headquarters earns LEED Gold Certification

Zurn’s new headquarters has achieved LEED Gold certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Zurn plumbing products are used throughout the facility and are expected to contribute to a 45 percent reduction in water usage as compared to a building built to code.

“As a leader and a steward of water efficiency, our new facility exceeds the highest standards in water efficiency, and also acts as a showcase for our water efficient and lean construction tools,” says Sam Karge, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Zurn. “In addition, the facility represents Zurn’s dedication to having a minimal impact on the environment and the surrounding community.”

Designed by Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) and constructed by C.D. Smith Construction, Inc., the new headquarters serves as a destination for Zurn customers, designers, and industry influencers from around the world. The 52,000 square foot building, located at 511 W. Freshwater Way in Milwaukee’s Reed Street Yards, features an expansive training and customer experience center.

The building’s design emphasis was on sustainable features, including Zurn plumbing products throughout, building positioning to maximize daylighting, sustainable and local material choice, and stormwater management. Other features include collaborative workspaces, a fitness center, electric vehicle charging stations and bike storage.

“It is always great working with clients who are not only concerned with building a sustainable work environment for their employees, but also have a sustainable mission at their core,” said Maggie Pipek, Project Architect for Eppstein Uhen Architects. “Zurn’s plumbing line features many sustainable products and we were able to showcase these products throughout the building contributing to a 45% reduction in water use as compared to a standard building.”

The location in Reed Street Yards also provides easy access to bike paths and public transportation.
